Other Pertinent Information

Buying Lunch

1.)  Lunch Price (milk included):  $2.40 (regular price)    .40 (reduced price)
2.)  Breakfast Price:  $1.70 (regular price)     .30 (reduced price)

3.) You may pay daily, weekly, or monthly.
4.) When sending in lunch money, please put it in an envelope (or baggie) labeled with your child’s name and the words “Lunch Money.”
5.)  Our school district offers “prepay online.”  Visit mySchoolBucks.com for more information.

Packing Lunch

1.)  Please have your child’s name on his/her lunch box/bag.
2.)  If your child does not pack something to drink, he/she may purchase milk (.60).

*** If you send in money for milk, you can either place it in your child’s lunch box/bag OR place it in his/her take-home folder (in a labeled envelope/baggie).

Snacks  (in the cafeteria…….during lunch)

1.)  Children will be able to purchase snacks during lunch.  The snacks will be purchased as they go through the lunch line.  They are to be eaten in the cafeteria.
2.)  Snack prices vary.
3.)  Please place any snack money in a labeled envelope/baggie.

***  If you child has money on his/her account, I won't know if it's just for lunch OR if it's for lunch and snacks.  Therefore, please let me know if your child can buy snacks with the money in the account.  (Thank you very much.)

4.)  While I encourage students to eat their lunch prior to any snack, it is not always possible to keep that from happening.

Snack Time (in our classroom)

Luckily for us, lunch occurs right in the middle of the day.  However, I will still offer a "snack time" near the end of the day.

1.)  Please don't think that the snack needs to be elaborate.  Something simple works great.
2.)  Students may bring their own juice or a bottle of water to have at snack time.
3.)  Please be sure that you send in a healthy snack.
4.)  Students are not allowed to share snacks with each other.

Volunteers

Parent/grandparent volunteers are absolutely essential to a successful school year.

1.)  I will ask for volunteers at Open House.  I will also send home a volunteer form.
2.)  PTA will send home a “Volunteer Form," as well.

Attendance

A student who does not attend school is in violation of Virginia Statute 22.1-245 (Compulsory School Attendance).  A student shall not be absent or tardy to class without written parental permission.

Please remember to send in a note whenever your child returns from an absence.  A form is available on the division website.  It is not mandatory to use that form, but it is helpful.  Parent notes are accepted for the first ten excused absences.

Please note that Perfect Attendance is defined as being present in school for the ENTIRE school day with no absences, either excused or unexcused, and no tardies or early dismissals.

Celebrations and Special Days

1.)  For each classroom celebration, I will send home a sign-up sheet for treats/supplies.

**  Food items will need to be pre-approved by our principal no later than one week prior to the event.
**  No food items (other than packed school lunches/snacks) are to be brought to school on the bus.
**  Food items must by transported to the school by an adult.

2.)  I also ask for two volunteers to help out each time.

3.)  We have a seasonal party to celebrate the arrival of Fall and a Valentine’s Day celebration.

4.)  In addition, prior to winter break, we will have a Polar Express day!

Birthdays

1.)  Food items for birthdays will need to be pre-approved by our school’s principal no later than one week prior to the event.

**  If you need a request form, please let me know.

2.)  As noted above, food items for birthdays must be transported to the school by an adult family member.

3.)  Please consider non-food items.  Stickers, erasers, pencils, bubbles, bouncy balls, etc. all make awesome classroom treats.
